Emmy Lingscheit, printmaker and professor of art at University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, spent 2 weeks in the cabin during the snowiest part of February, 2021. Here’s what she writes:
My three weeks at Calumet Artist Residency were a magical time. The solitude allowed me to make steady, satisfying progress on my project, and every day I took a break to walk or snowshoe through the beautiful winter landscape of the nearby dunes and along Lake Michigan. This time outside became an important part of my research and process for this long term print project connected to regional ecology and underground systems.
